Would you pay 5 cents more a stem for a rose that lasted twice as long?
Recent studies by the American Floral Endowment (AFE) found that consumers preferred to give and receive flowers that lasted longer, and would be willing to pay more if they were offered longer lasting flowers. This poses the question: “Would you pay more for flowers that lasted longer?” When fuel prices go up, so do fuel surcharges which increase the price of flowers. And flower prices usually increase before major holidays. And what more do you get for those increased prices? Nothing. So, if you were offered roses that cost 5 cents more a stem, would you pay it if they lasted twice as long as roses you’re currently buying?
